There’s pretty much history at every corner in this picturesque town, North Water Street is a must-see.

Located at the East point of Martha’s Vineyard, Edgartown is the preppiest of all Island towns – think Lily Pulitzer, boat shoes, and all-around nautical style. Downtown Edgartown:
Edgartown Harbor Lighthouse marks the entrance and exit to the Edgartown harbor which leads to Katama Bay. There is only one way in and out of the harbor. In summer, the harbor is busy with many yachts moored here. Across from the Lighthouse is the historic Harbor View Hotel, popular in summer for cocktails on from porch overlooking the lighthouse. The Edgartown Yacht Club is at the very end of Main Street.

Edgartown was the main location for Steven Spielberg’s filming of Jaws and Manny of the buildings are easily recognizable from the film.

Edgartown is known for its abundant shopping options, restaurants & bars, Art Galleries, and is a national wedding destination.

Annual Events: Pink and Green Weekend, 4th July Fireworks, Christmas in Edgartown – organized by the Edgartown Board of Trade, as well as the Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival and Taste of the Vineyard. Katama and South Beach:
A short distance from Edgartown town center is Katama and South Beach, easily accessible by bicycle. On the way to South Beach, you pass some Lamas owned by Ernie Boch – a hotspot for photos, and the Katama General Store. Katama Road splits into a left fork and a right fork.

The Left fork brings you past the Field Club private resort, and Katama Farm – managed by the Trustees, and a great venue with programs for adults, and many kids activities.

South Beach is a popular beach for good swimmers as it is known at times for a strong undertow. This beach has ample parking and has public amenities.

The Right fork has the Right Fork Diner – a great spot for breakfast and lunch, and the Katama Airfield which was established in 1924 and offers bi-plane rides for a birdseye view of Martha’s Vineyard.
